Flag: The flag closely resembles that of the ottoman empire, which preceded modern day Turkey. It is said that the flag represents the reflection of the moon and stars on the pool of blood of Turkish warriors
Geography: Turkey is at the northeast end of the Mediterranean Sea. It is split between both Europe and Asia with the vast majority of the country being in Asia. A large central part of the country is a treeless plateau bordered by mountains. Outside the mountains to the east are similar conditions to the of our area.

Demographic: Turkey has a population of about 81 Million. The ratio between sexes is about one to one with the main religion in the country being Muslim. (99.8%) The country is about 80% Turkish and 20% Kurdish. The major languages are Turkish and Kurdish with a 94% literacy rate of the whole population.
Government: The current type of government is a Republican Parliamentary Democracy which was adopted in 1982
Historical timeline:
There are two main factors that led to the current state of Turkey. The first being the abandonment of the ottoman empire by turkey around the 1920's and second, the coup d'état which led to the collapse of the militaristic regime which eventually led to the presidential democracy that is now in place.
Neighboring Foreign Policy: "the discourse of “zero problem with neighbors” is a slogan summarizing Turkey’s expectations with regards to her relations with neighboring countries. Turkey wants to eliminate all the problems from her relations with neighbors or at least to minimize them as much as possible."
Culture: The main thing that gives the Turkish people a sense of identity is their religion. Islam is found everywhere in turkey and almost all of their art, architecture, and lifestyles is based upon the Islamic principles and styles.
